About
George R. Hardinger
With a career spanning more than 40 years, George R. Hardinger brings a wealth of expertise to his work. Beginning as a Correctional Officer in 1976 at the Maryland House of Corrections, George has remained committed to system improvement, facility design, and safety, both for detention center staff and for those who are incarcerated. Serving as Warden for the last two decades, George was continually recognized as a champion for best-in-class operations; setting the standard for facilities across Maryland by implementing a central booking system, a pretrial release program, and Carroll County's inaugural Adult Drug Court. George was awarded the "Dewitt" Award for Outstanding Correctional Professionals in 2014–evidence that he achieved the goal he set for himself on day one of his career.
Since retiring from public service in July 2021, George remains active in the Corrections field. He is an expert in correctional leadership practices and development, certified by the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commission. He provides consultant services across the country, partnering with the National Institute of Corrections, and state and local jurisdictions. As a recognized Expert Witness for both plaintiffs and defendants, his areas of specialization include excessive uses of force, wrongful death, and much more.
